ON MY WAY HOME

Well I thought I would re-start the Blog just to keep you posted as to our travels as we head home from California to Ottawa...and the adventure continues

we started off on Tuesday November 30 and got lucky to drive in sunshine the whole day but I must say I was surprised to see snow in Arizona and quite a bit of it in Flagstaff.  Our destination on that first day was Winslow Arizona ....and we were 2 miles away ....driving down Hwy 40 ...speed limit 75 ....and we were driving along about 83 ....Phil was driving ...No one had mentioned to us that police in Arizona were EVERYWHERE and very strict ....we were passing everyone and i wondered why .....well I didnt wonder long ....we passed 2 policemen about 500 yards apart and Phil jokingly said ...Oh they are coming for us ...I thought he was joking ....but no....there were red lights in my side window ....so over we pulled and the policeman asked Phil if he knew how fast he was going and he said yes...84 heheheheh well the cop said he clocked him at 83 ....so he took my registration...Phil's license and off to his car he went ...a few minutes later the other cop came to my window to "chat'   he was from WATERDOWN, ONTARIO CANADA ....he looked 12 ...well we chatted and they let us off with a warning but said all of the cops in Arizona knew and if we got stopped again they would be tough ....we were 1 mile from our hotel ....so off we crawled :) very glad I was from Canada

Day 2 - Dec 1 ....we crawl thru Arizona ....desperately afraid to get pulled over again ....and it was a LONNNGGGG 120 miles to New Mexico ...  Finally we get to new mexico and the speed limit is still 75 ...well we have been in NM about 1/2 and come to a construction zone ....speed slows to 45 ...so we do ....then it picks up to 55 and then 65 ...so Phil is slowly creeping along to 60 ...pass 2 cops in the median ....I look up and there is red lights in my mirror   AGAIN !!!!!!  both of them ...officer says you were doing 60 in a 45 ...we slightly argued that ...and were seriously going back to take photos ...but the officer took my registration AGAIN  and Phil's license ....and said he would give us the benefit of the doubt and give us a WARNING    again !!!!   geeeeeeeez

down the road we go ...cruise set on 75 not a mile over ....look in the rear mirror ...more police lights ...well *I was about to jump at that point ...but this time he went past us ....about 5 cars ahead he tried to pull over a dude in a 1/2 ton truck ....3 transport trucks were in front of us ...trying to move around ...but officer  kept coming over in our lane ...truck dude wont pull over so we all pull back ...transport drivers decide to help the officer and box him in ... 1 in front...1 behind and 1 beside and we blocked the other hole ....they bring the truck dude to a stop ....he wont get out of the truck ...officer pulls a gun ....and aims in the window ...still nothing ....opens the door and the man wont get out ...transport driver beside us gets out with a huge flashlight and goes helps the officer ..Phil gets out ...Sharon panics but takes photos ......what a day !!!!

On to Little Rock Arkansas tomorrow ...I can paper the hotel room with speed warnings !!!!!

Oregon

I havent been able to Blog the last couple of days because internet service wasnt too available or was too slow. But here I am in Warrenton Oregon, a small town on the coast of Oregon. We drove from Seattle down here and took a detour over to Multonmah Falls ...One of the prettiest Falls I have ever seen. It has been raining the last couple of days but we did get lucky this morning and the sun was out for a few hours ....the Oregon Coast is very very beautiful.

Seattle Washington

We drove from Leavenworth along Highway 2 to Bellevue Washington, a suburb just outside Seattle ...it was a spectacular drive although twisting and turning but very beautiful.

We drove in sunshine the whole trip but it did cloud up by the time we were heading to downtown Seattle to see the Space Needle.

Leavenworth Washington

We have been in a KOA campground in Washington just 1/2 mile from a wonderful little town called Leavenworth ...its a replica of a Bavarian or German town and it is so very sweet ....the small shops and the painting on the buildings are fantastic ...we browsed the shops and then had an authentic German meal of Weiner Schnizel ....it was great ...

tomorrow we are on to Seattle ....hoping the rain holds off ...we have had fabulous weather so far ....keep it coming

Glacier National Park

These are just a few pictures of Glacier National Park ....it truly is a National treasure

Montana - Idaho and Washington

We waited in Kalispell for good weather to go up to Glacier National Park.  We have been through several parks to this point and all were so beautiful but nothing prepared us for Glacier.  It is breathtakingly beautiful and words really cant describe what we saw.  Now when we got to the top even this Canadian was cold and the poor Californians darn near froze to death but it was all worth it.

I seem to be back in the land of cell coverage and internet providers ...although I am sad to leave Wyoming and Montana behind ...they truly are beautiful beyond words we are now in Spokane Washington.

We left Montana this morning and we passed through the panhandle of Idaho and we were treated the gorgeous Lake Coeur D'Alene ....absolutely wonderful and I would love to come back to explore it further.  So here we are in Spokane, Washington for 1 night and tomorrow we will travel on to Leavenworth Washington.

Happy Trails !!
