This is Jake - We believe he is a mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and Rottweiler. On June 27 while we were camping in Smiths Falls at Victoria Park, he had jumped into the Rideau Canal. A wonderful lady by the name of Gail pulled him out and was walking around the park looking for his owners. From the moment I saw him I fell in love and even though I had "swore" we would never have another dog, he stole my heart. After a long day of searching for his owner, the Humane Society not wanting him, and no one calling looking for a lost dog - we brought him to our campsite and called Jeremy and told him he had a new dog.
Gail, who found him, called him Buddy - so that name stuck for a while. Jeremy brought him home and started calling him by different dog names and he reacted to the name JAKE !!! So that's his name.
He is the most wonderfully sweet, obedient and loving dog I have ever had. It's been a month now with no one coming forward - and now he is ours - all 100 pounds of him.
