Stanton to Lynnville, IN

These last 2 campgrounds have been in small towns off the beaten path and certainly not household names - but the people are so friendly and the campgrounds were more than adequate ...

The rain started early this morning and continued until almost St. Louis - Phil had to wait to unhook us until lightening had stopped ....by the time we reached St. Louis the rain had stopped and the rest of the way was a lovely drive - the rains had caused terrible flooding as field after field was flooded and rivers were pushing their banks ....

This campsite was near a small lake and we were a bit worried - but the campsite are so uneven ....we are so high up that water couldn't possible reach us :)

The Hard Worker

We move on to Lexington Kentucky tomorrow ...and as I type this it is raining !!!!!!

Until tomorrow - Happy Trails!!

Branson to Stanton Missouri

Short and Sweet

We started a little later today because Phil had to return the car rental.  We eventually got on our way out of the Ozarks and back on I-44 to Stanton Missouri - a truly small little KOA right off the Interstate ...We were the only ones here until 830 tonight when 1 other motorhome pulled it.

Not many KOA's offer a restaurant service but this one had just put ribs in the smoker !!!!   and they were ready at 4:30 !  At 530 Phil went over and brought back dinner of ribs, corn on the cob, potatoe salad - all home made - No cooking - No dishes :))

So that is it for today - drove 200 miles in rain - no downpours or storms, just enough to not make for a good picture taking day....so I call this blog Short and Sweet .....so here it is !!! lol

Looking so forward to seeing this Munchkin and his big sister xoxoxoxoxoxox

Happy Trails!!!

Branson Day 2

It has been a great day here in Branson for a second day ....it started with a great breakfast at the Hungry Hunter - which is a restaurant right here at the campground.

On our way out today to head to our shows I took photos of the poor people in the 5th wheel that the tree fell on the morning that we arrived.  My gosh it might have been scary for them.

We drove around Table Rock Lake and saw where the winds had done a lot of damage that night.

Our first show was a tribute to Marty Robbins - A favorite singer of both Phil and I.  It was a great 2 hours of entertainment.  We thoroughly enjoyed this show.

We found some nourishment - well the Salsa had vegtables in it !!!!!  Then it was on to the Shoji Tabuchi Show

Now this is a different kind of show but very entertaining ...A Japanese man who came to American and went to Nashville to play his violin/fiddle country style.   The most amazing part of this whole Theatre was its bathrooms !!!

THE WOMEN'S

This is just the hand washing side ...and
THE MEN'S

Billiards Table and all !!!
No - I didn't take the photos ....I made Phil go in with the phone and take them hahahahahaha!!!

Moving on tomorrow but wish we were staying at least one extra day ....but hopefully will return one day .  We found the Table Rock State Park where we would like to stay

Until Tomorrow - Happy Trails!!

Branson Missouri

We survived last nights storm - it did hit us around 12:45 a.m.  It was a strong Thunderstorm but no hail and no really bad winds ....We packed up and made the short drive today to Branson.  It rained on and off and when we arrived at our Campground it had not faired as well ...the first thing we noticed was a tree had fallen on a 5th Wheel and there were more trees down within the park ...
The drive to Branson through the Ozark Mountains was lovely - despite the rain ...

Rain slowed and eventually stopped and off we went into Branson to see what it was all about.  We will see two shows tomorrow ....A tribute to Marty Robbins and the Shoji Tobuchi show that has been highly recommended by Ron for many years.  It is suppose to be a nicer day with some sunshine.

Looking forward to exploring more of Branson tomorrow, see the shows and to also relax a little for an extra day.

Happy Trails!!

Oklahoma City to Carthage Missouri

Today was a much easier day of driving !!! Although the wind still blew at 18 mph - it was mostly behind us ....We drove the 44 Will Rogers Turnpike and it was $9 in Tolls which wasn't too bad and the up side was that gas was $2.05 :)

I don't think I mentioned in Yesterdays post that we were directly on the Flight Path for Tinker AFB (Air Force Base)   I swear the planes were aiming for us !!!

Well fortunately they stopped flying around 7 p.m.  Phil went to bed at 9 but 3 more flew over at 10 p.m. and I was sure he would boldt straight up ...but they didn't wake him but my snoring does apparently ??????

Hahahaha We partied all night !!!!

We crossed into Missouri today and are at a lovely Campground owned by the RV Sales and Services across the road ...but they have done it very nicely...However, a very nice man came around this afternoon to let us know that bad weather was coming !!!!!  And if there were any "FUNNEL" CLOUDS!!! he would be around blowing a horn ...loud enough to wake us all !!! and then he would be back to pick Phil and I up - one at a time - to take us to a shelter !!!!!!!!  I think I will sleep fully dressed 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀

Our Home for the night ...Hopefully we wont be in Kansas in the morning !!!

On to Branson in the morning ....we are so excited about seeing some shows !!

Until tomorrow - Happy Trails!!

Amarillo to Oklahoma City

It was a tough drive today!!!!  The wind had already started by the time we departed and it just got worse ....up to 22 mph ...It's funny how you don't notice this kind of stuff in a car but in a high profile vehicle it was all intensified ....Phil did a great job but stopped a few extra times to shake out the arms and hands and neck from holding the wheel ....We certainly glad to see the Elks Lodge ....and this is what we saw when we pulled in hahahahahah
We had our pick ...from any spot on the field hahahahahha!!!

Choosing the right spot ... :)

We knew this Elks Lodge was going to be bare-bones camping but we have Electric Hookups and Dancing With the Stars - what more could there be ???

One more stop before Branson - in Carthage Missouri and new road travelled for us !!

Happy Trails !!!

Albuquerque to Amarillo

We started our day a little earlier, after a really nice continental breakfast at the campground...Once again we had blue blue skies and cooler temps to travel in ....but it wasn't long before we started feeling the gentle sway of a breeze - well actually it was a 16mph wind that rocked the beejeepers out of us ....but Phil handled it like a pro and we did stop a couple extra times so he could shake out his arms from holding onto the steering wheel ...we moved into central time zone so we arrived around 3 p.m.

We have been at his RV park before and really enjoy it ....and as mentioned previously we were so looking forward to our Steak dinner at the end of our day ...

Our "limo" drive was due at 7 - and he arrived right on time

Then on to the Big Texan - The best steak - everything was delicious -

Deep in Thought!!!

Decision Made !!! hahahahaha

Seriously though, we both had a great dinner and just enjoyed the atmosphere.

This young Aussie tried to do the big 72 oz steak and trimmings in 1 hour ....he Failed!!! but it was a good try

On to Oklahoma City tomorrow and a stay at an Elk's Lodge - then on to Branson

Until tomorrow - Happy Trails!!

Change of Plans - Gallup to Albuquerque

We decided to change todays ending point.   It was a fantastic for driving and we had decided to make it a short day and end in Albuquerque ...There is an RV park here where we have stayed twice before but we were surprised to find out it was completely sold out ...so we came across the Interstate to the American RV Park
It has turned out to be a great decision ....its a great place and also has a Continental Breakfast which is almost unheard of in the RVing world ....

Tomorrow we will have a longer drive now but we know there is a great Steak dinner at the end of it ...at the Big Texan steak house ...we have been once before and will stay in the RV park a block away ....we are looking forward to it :)

Weather is holding very nicely ....wind, to me, is worse than snow, when you are in a 13' 6" vehicle...hoping we can avoid it over the next day or two ...

Until tomorrow - Happy Trails!!!!

Campe Verde to Gallup New Mexico

Day 3 and we are on our way to Gallup New Mexico - this will be a new spot for us to spend a night in the RV ....

As we climbed up to 6000 feet at Flagstaff, AZ - the air cooled and it was finally nice to be out 90 degree weather ....Beautiful day for driving

We crossed into New Mexico and didn't have far to go to Gallup.

Tonight we will stay at the USA RV park - it looks like it might have once been a KOA - its a very nice park...a little close together but certainly not packed tonight ....they offered a pulled-pork BBQ sandwich from their little store and that was dinner - delicious !!!

Our plans may change slightly tomorrow - plan was to go on to Santa Rosa NM but couldn't make a reservation tonight so may stop in Albuquerque - we have a favorite RV park there and we may just stop there - making for a shorter drive and a little R & R ...before a long drive to Amarillo.

Until tomorrow - Happy Trails!!

Day 2 - Quartzsite to Camp Verde

Day 2

Thursday was a beautiful day for driving ....it was 78 by 9 a.m. in the desert ...so we didn't move too fast but got on the road around 10 a.m.

Great roads and a great drive today ....did some hill climbing today ....its not such a nail-biter for me when we are not towing a car ...Drove around Phoenix today and took a picture of downtown Phoenix:

Highway 17 was the small climb we had today ....so what went up must come down!!!
Moving on to Gallup New Mexico tomorrow ...not a long day and hopefully will go smoothly,

Happy Trails!!!
We are on the Road Again!! This trip back to  Canada will be more about getting there than the trip along the way.  We are travelling every day except one when we stop for two nights in Branson Missouri where we hope to take in a couple of shows.  It has been a destination on our bucket list so we are thrilled to be swinging through.

Our first day of travel got a later start - due to unloading the car and putting a cover over it so it waits for our return.

We drove from Pomono California to Quartzsite Arizona which is a mecca for Rv'ers in January and February but was a ghost town while we were there.  It is truly desert and was really hot ...thank goodness the a/c was working great in the "Holliday Inn" .

Nice campground and nice gentleman running it ....had all we needed .....On to  Camp Verde on Thursday.

Happy Trails !!!!!
